WHAT TO WEAR: VALENTINE’S DAY
I DON’T HAVE A vALENTINE, BUT HERE’S WHAT I’D WEAR IF I DID.
Listen. I’m happy for everyone who is happy. If you’ve got a romantic date this Valentine’s day weekend, I am happy for you.
Ok — I’m not. I’m bitter. The idea of love in this day and age of heinous dating apps and douchey finance bros and freaks who want feet pics has turned me cynical. Admitting it is the first step! Even though I don’t have a baefy at this time, I am going to provide you with date outfit ideas approved by yours truly if I did. You’re welcome.

Option A: The Black, Bottom-Half-Hugging Maxi Skirt
Show off that bomb figure with pure class, all the way. Pair with a long black sleeve (one with a boat neck or a deep V to add dimension is preferable) and some simplistic or statement jewelry pieces.
Option B: The Black Body-Con Maxi or Midi
And you thought the first option was classy? You’re not ready. A plain black long sleeve dress doesn’t have to be plain, either. You can always add a belt to accentuate the waist, do something fun with your hair or jewelry, and add a cool pair of shoes.
Option C: Add Color, Non-Obnoxiously
I love a bright red, if you couldn’t tell. However, a bright, in-your-face red for so much material, like a dress, is a bit loud (and basic) for Valentine’s Day. Dare I say: it’s corny. Don’t be corny. Be c*nt. Wear plums or dark, brooding reds to get your lover lookin’.
What I’d wear:
Tank air - Northern Silver Mini Dress
The Northern Silver Mini Dress from Tank Air is stunning. It is absolutely bound to get your S/O Super Obedient. Bark. Ok no but seriously, this is what I would wear on a fancy date. Throw on a black fur coat and silver heels to match the hardware on the dress, and you’ll have to fight off other potential valentines.
FOR SOME CASUAL ROMANCE:
Casual can be romantic, too. I support a laid back date — as long as you still look hot.

Option A: Dark Flare Jean & Chunky Belt
A dark flare that’s tight up top and sassy on bottom will make you S/O swoon. Plus, if I were to see you out, I’d compliment your outfit. Then you’ll have two people swooning. What’s better than that? Add a chunky, fun but classy belt to keep things interesting and pointy-toed heels or boots.
Option B: A Baggy Mom Jean & A Fun Halter
Earlier, I said that red can be obnoxious on Valentine’s day with too much fabric — but incooperating red with one clothing item can make you stand out to everyone instead of standing on top of everyone. Don’t over do it! I know that halters are a touch of an accquired taste, but for some reason I can’t quite pinpoint, they give romantic, sexy vibes to me. Idk. Maybe I’m weird.
Option C: Sexy on Top, Baggy-ish on Bottom
For those who really want to get their valentine riled up, a sexy but still classy option for a top is a pretty, lacy bralette (I prefer a balconette style) under a sheer-ish long sleeve. Pair with jeans that give you some room but won’t have you lost in fabric. Add a pointy toe to peek out of that loseness on the bottom of your jeans, and you’re set. Some cool jewlery never hurts, either ;)
What i’d wear:
Or in this case, what I did wear.
Iamgia jeans, reformation top, dolce vita boots
I did not wear this on a date. Ew, men. However, I did wear it out to the bars and I felt super confident. I feel like this outfit would be sooo cute on a date with your S/O. Sexy, but nothing crazy — add a big coat over to keep you warm and you’re set!
To galentine’s:
I didn’t forget about my own kind my loves. For those who are valentine-less, here’s what to wear to your girly-pop events!

Option A: Build on Fun Tights
I know a pair of tights isn’t an outfit, but it can make an outfit. Build around this and play with it — make the tights the focus! Use a black mini and plain top to not overwhelm everyone who stares at you and how good you look. Plus, it’ll look adorbs in photos.
Option B: Red & Black
I love the idea of a red dress and black tights for a galentine’s photoshoot. It’ll photograph well and you’ll look hot. What more can you ask for? Personally, I wouldn’t go out in this outfit, but my camera roll will think I did. And at the end of the day, in my opinion, a good photo is better than a valentine.
Option C: Realistically — PJ’s.
Ain’t no shame in this PJ game. Imagine all of your besties, cozied up with wine, watching old 80’s movies you’ll never live up to (these directors literally have set us up to fail in our love lives), and bitching about how men are terrible. Sounds like the perfect evening to me, to be real with you.
What i’d wear:
burgundy mini
Ok I’m not sure where this skirt is from but I NEED IT. Look how cute it is. Are you JOKING? I don’t even have words. And that’s rare — I’m a class A yapper. Leave sexy to the skirt, and flattering but classy to the top. If knee-highs feel like top much for you, a little black heel will work just fine!
Have fun this v-day, my lovers!
Each of you are my Valentine. Love you <3
XOXO,
- EmilyG
