ACCORDING TO EMILYG… WINTER ESSENTIALS: coats, DUH!

Don’t worry. I won’t say it again.

By now, you all know it’s cold because Jack Frost isn’t nipping at your nose, he’s literally gnawing at it as he laughs at you because you chose to go out without a coat on. Tequila may seem like it’ll keep you warm, but it’s all a facade. The only thing tequila will do for you is trigger your gag reflex and have you texting your ex. Gross.

Contrary to popular belief, there are pieces out there you can throw on top of your tiny going-out tops that won’t ruin your outfit. If you’re smart enough to read my blog and take a peek at these fabulous coats and jackets, don’t worry — you’re covered. Literally.

Before we get to the goods…

Let’s talk fur. ’“Mob wife” this, “mob wife” that. Let’s not aestheticize and over-label looking classically chic, because fur is not and never will be just a “trend” — fur is a seasonal staple. Get it together, people. I don’t want my great grandmother’s mink because I want to look like a mob wife… I want it because, HELLO? It’s VINTAGE MINK FUR? Though fur coats are a total delicacy in the fashion world, it’s important to keep in mind that furs come at the expense of many a living thing. Ethically and sustainably, it is better to purchase faux or vintage fur. If you’re going to purchase fur, shop vintage or shop faux.

A touch of glamour, dahhhling.

To throw on over your tiny tops and microscopic mini skirts.

luxe vintage “ferryhill faux fur coat” - $149

For my mental health, ladies, if not for the sake of the environment, PLEASE do not buy from Zara this year. Instead, check out Luxe Vintage, a similarly if not better priced site that is far more sustainable. The ferry hill faux coat is adorbssss and will keep you warm when you’re shivering in your scandalous going-out outfit. I’m actually waiting for mine to come in the mail. I’ll make an edit here when it does. Hehe!

Superdown “Kennedy Faux Fur Coat” - $130

If you want brown instead of black, opt for the Kennedy coat by Super Down on Revolve. She’s almost completely sold out again, but if you read my blog in a timely manner, maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch her in time. I’m waiting for her to restock in my size. Ugh, when people say patience is a virtue, I’m just like, shut up. No it isn’t.

Leatha leatha.

@anotherleather on depop for 1 of 1 leather jackets

I am a massive believer in one-of-a-kind pieces. This is a difficult belief to have however, when I pride myself on recommending clothing to you all. My solution is to not gatekeep my favorite depop account to shop leather jackets from. They sell vintage jackets as well, if you’re like me and want to be able to say, “it’s vintage, darling.” I have two from @anotherleather and I can confirm they have excellent customer service, fairly priced items, quick shipping, and will answer any questions you have. You will not regret it ;)

Classique

Steve madden “prince coat” - $139

For a simple, chic and most importantly, warm option, a soft but structured trench is the way to go. Just imagine… you’re late to a lunch date with a friend. You’re rushing. Your cheeks start to get flushed, which is actually perfect because it gives you that “I am just so busy” look that you’re always wanting. You just fling on your cute little trench before you get out the door. As you’re rushing down the streets of Brooklyn in your adorable outfit (put together by EmilyG), a group of 15-year-olds walk past you and stare. One of them runs up to you and says “I love. Your coat.” And to think, this magical moment happened because you read my blog.

ALL THE WAYS “CLAIRE FAUX LEATHER TRENCH” - $108

If soft and structured just isn’t sassy enough for you, go leather. Leather is always the way. This coat says, “Get out of my way. I’m not saying please, because I look too sexy to add any manners.” Plus, it’s affordable. What more could you ask for?

DRAMA AT THE OPERA

loba “luciana faux fur maxi coat” - $320

Bring on the theatrics. Everyone will look your way when you make your grand entrance in your royal gorgeousness. Hell, you’ll look your own way. Don’t trip though. That would be embarrassing. Anyway. This should def be on your wishlist. I mean, it’s on mine.

Tyler McGillivary “Brandy Jacket” - $255

Who said denim can’t be dramatic? Turn heads and walk that walk in this gorgeous piece. Go monochromatic and pair with a dark wash denim pant and pointy toe leather boots. Add gold jewelry to compliment the brown fur trim, get that slick back slicked back and you’re set.

Vestiaire Collective: Chloé faux fur coat - $188

Ok ok ok. I apologize for the bad quality photo, but blame the seller, not me. But COME ON. A vintage Chloé fur for less than 200? Are you SERIOUS? I wish I could jump on this right now. I would, if I didn’t just spend big bucks on everyone’s Christmukkah gifts. Ugh. The consequences of being a nice person.
